ORIENTAL MARTIAL ARTS COUNCIL & ZEN SHIN BUDO KAI

Meijin Dai Jon Alexander (Shihan)
Founder: Zen Shin Budo Kai
& Oriental Martial Arts Council,
is now 69 and has been training for over
50 years in all aspects of martial arts.
He has also advised and instructed
on numerous films, which include martial arts.
Jon is the highest graded Japanese Swordsman
within the Zen-Shin-Do-Kenjutsu system
and he has mastered many other Oriental arts including Kyudo (Japanese Archery),
Sai (Prong Fork), Kendo, Rokushaku-Bo
(Long stick), Tomiki-Aikido.
Jon is also a Master and teacher of Tai-Chi-Chuan, Jade Mountain Style Shaolin Kung-Fu
and Zen-Shin-Goju-Karate, has trained in
and developed many styles of martial arts
and holds ranks in various other martial arts.

Jon has trained with many top ranking,
world-class Instructors including such prominent martial artists as: SENSEI OKIMITSU FUJII
and famous actor/martial artist
TOMOSABURA WAKAYAMA,
the Swordsman in Shogun Assassin.
He is in reality a 10th Dan in several Kenjutsu styles as well as being a prominent actor.
KENSHIRO-ABBE, MASAFUMI SUZUKI, ITO KUNIMITSU and other well-known instructors.

A great many famous martial artists and instructors owe their first ever Dan grade
to Jon.
Many instructors have gone on to formulate their own styles and methods based on Jon's original tuition methods and Kata.
By the end of 1972, Jon had established over
70 Zen-Shin Clubs throughout Great Britain
and abroad.
His success continued for many years until
in 1984, Jon franchised his clubs to his instructors and moved to Cornwall to
re-establish his ideas and re-formulate his style.
His success continues to this day with many old students eventually finding their way back to his original teaching.

He also states that he has never “been on the doors”,
never taught Navy “Seals” or trained Special Forces,
but has miraculously somehow managed to stay undamaged,
visually unscarred and vibrantly alive and well.

O'Sensei Jon Alexander developed the Zen - Shin - Do - Kenjutsu style of Swordsmanship
over a period of more than 40 years after his disappointment with conventional styles of IAIDO.
There are several clubs around the Country teaching this style
and they are reporting successful numbers and various wins at tournaments.

Training Precepts as written by Shihan Jon

I live in this world, which in some way,
no matter how insignificant my contribution would seem, I have helped to create.
I cannot help what is passed, however,
I can through the practice of my chosen martial art,
modify my future actions to bring about the improvement of all things.

I may not understand all that I have been taught, yet, I have been instructed.
I must strive to find the meaning and purpose of that instruction,
no matter how long it may take, knowing that instruction can be absolute silence,
a single word, a sentence or a loud shout”.
In instructing others, I will always try to remember my own lack of ability
and understanding and try to teach with patience, kindness and determination,
to improve the ability of others and myself.

I will not criticise others until I, myself, are perfect and above criticism.

You cannot find your way ahead until you go back the way you came.

Jon sends best wishes, good will and thanks to all his old students and instructors.
He thanks you all for your support in the early days.
